1. Only at monstertyres you decide what price you pay. How does it work?
At monstertyres every client can make his own price for the used tyres. You pay the least if you buy the whole Contingent of used tyres. Then youll get 10 % discount of the normal price. The more choosy you are, the more you pay for the tyres. Between 80 and 99 % you pay the normal price, see prices. If you take less than 80 % of a contingent you anyway pay 80 %. The reason for this rule is that our prices are average prices per tire. This means, you always pay the same price for each tire in the contingent. Our standard price applies, when the customer buys more than 80% of a contingent.
Our best price applies, when the customer buys a whole contingent
Our flexible price applies, when the customer buys less than 80% of a complete tire mixture (contingent).
2. How can I send you an inquiry for used tires? Who is Monty?
Our Monty is a funny virtual tire expert. He assists you with your inquiry for used tires. It is very important for us to know which tire sizes you are interested in, in order to maintain business relationships. Our assistant enables you to perceive what we will possibly deliver. The more tire sizes you choose, the sooner we can get in business contact. Please note: An inquiry from our web site is not an order ! Currently there is no option to make orders online. If you send us an inquiry, we will inform you regularly about our best offers via e-mail (You can unsubscribe at any time)
3. Where are the tires? Can I inspect them by myself?
The used tires and carcasses are NOT stored at our head office in Cologne (Kön). The tires are stored in our warehouse in 51469 Bergisch Gladbach close to Cologne, Germany. All of our prices are EXW from our warehouse in 51469 Bergisch Gladbach. Due to our flexible working hours at the warehouse it is often closed. For that reason we do not give the precise address before we get in contact and invite you to inspect the tires. Please contact us for an invitation only after you filled out our inquiry. Monty will help you with it.
4. What tires do I have to take? What does contingent mean? What is the 80%-rule?
We sell tires only in contingents. A contingent at monstertyres is a mix of many different tire sizes. The amount of tires of a particular size varies from contingent to contingent. At monstertyres it is not possible to buy only 3 or 4 or a few selected tire sizes. We only supply tires to customers that are able to buy many tire sizes marked as "popular" in the inquiry assistant. You can get an idea about which tire sizes are included in a contingent by visiting our export price page or by sending us an export inquiry. Our virtual assistant (Monty) helps you with this. For customers that regularly buy greater amounts of tires, we can arrange contingents according to their requirements: A contingent usually contains 20-30 different tire sizes. In that case you always get our best price.
As mentioned, a monstertyres contingent comprises of 20-30 different tire sizes, depending on the quality selected. If a customer selects all the displayed sizes in a contingent, it means he has selected 100% of that contingent, which entitles the customer to our "best price", a 10% discount. If a customer does not select all the sizes (not 100%), then he pays the "normal" price. But if a customer selects less than 80% of a contingent, a customer will still have to pay as if he were buying 80% of that contingent. To gain a better understanding of the monstertyres price system please don´t hesitate to experiment with our price calculators under Export > prices.
5. Who organizes the transport of used tires from Germany?
If you want to buy tyres, you have to organize the transport by your self (our terms of delivery are EXW our warehouse in Germany). After you have made a contract with us, we can give you support to organize the transport to your place. However, the transport costs are often lower if you hire a transporter at your place and not in Germany.
6. What does EXW mean? Why is it important with used tires?
We are an international export company. EXW is one of 13 standard trade definitions (incoterms) used in international sales contracts. EXW means that all our prices are valid ex-works from our warehouse in Bergisch-Gladbach, near Cologne, Germany. It is very important for both of the contracting parties to know who is responsible for the transport and for the storage of goods. According to EXW we are responsible for the storage and loading of tires. All other transportation costs and risks are assumed by the buyer.
7. Why do you sell only mixed contingents of tires?
Firstly, we want to keep the prices low. If we would sell each tire sizes separately, we would need a storage place ten times bigger compared to our warehouse. That would generate extra costs and make the tires more expensive.
Secondly, we do not produce the tyres. We are a tire collecting company for used tires and have to sell what we get. Unfortunately the consequence is that we have to mix the sizes.
8. Can I choose the used tires and carcasses I order?
If you visit our warehouse you have the option to choose the tires you want. However, you have to abide by our 80% rule. For that option you pay a bit more than our regular price for a contingent.
9. Why do I have to pay more if I choose the tires?
The prices you get from us are average prices. That means that you pay the same price for the best and the worst tire within a quality range and/or contingent. If you choose, you have to pay more, because we lose profit for the tires you leave behind and at the same time you get a better contingent.
10. After some orders I got too many tires in the same dimensions. What can I do about it?
This is no problem. In the next order we leave these dimensions out. However, you won`t get our 10% discount, because the contingent is not complete. If you want to leave out a big amount of tires, you have to pay more than our standard price.
11. What happens with the tires I sorted out of the contingent? Do I have to take them the next time I order at monstertyres? Which quality guarantee does monstertyres provide?
The tires our customers usually leave are those with a bit smaller profiles or unusual dimensions. We compile these tires into special offers and sell theam at lower rates. If you are interested in these offers, subscribe to our newsletter. Our quality guarantee can be found in our Price List under the Export menu. Here you can see exactly what quality standard we can guarantee for our tyre mix. Each tyre mix has its own quality standard based on the age of the tyre (DOT), tyre size, profile depth, marks and margin of error. If you wish to alter these standards then this will follow our 80% rule. (FAQ 4)
